Just ask

Do you have a question about your dream college and you’re hesitant to ask? It’s ok...just reach out. Most college admissions counselors are looking forward to hearing from students and families. They want to build a relationship with you. Frankly, they have student enrollment goals they are trying to hit, and you could help them hit them.
I know a lot of admissions counselors who will drop everything if a student contacts them (I also know some who won’t - but you won’t know until you try, right?). Most will text, email, and even jump on the phone or zoom/skype if you ask.
Just a couple pieces of advice when you reach out:
Don’t be too casual. Texting can be very informal...remember this is a person you are hoping will be an advocate for you.
Allow some response time. Most counselors will respond within 24 hours during the work week.
Ask all your questions. There’s no such thing as a stupid question and trust me this admissions counselor has heard it before.
Be thoughtful. Ask the counselor how and when they typically like to be contacted. If you stick to their request, you are much more likely to receive a prompt response in the future.
Be friendly. In my experience, I’ve seen admissions counselors go the extra mile for students who they have had pleasant interactions with.
Still have questions...shoot me a message. I’ll respond!
